To apply for admission to the Masters of Science in Accounting (MSA), applicants must complete an application to begin the process of consideration.

Pre-requisites

Fulfillment of prerequisites provides applicants with the eligibility to apply for consideration to the MSA but is not a guarantee of admission.

Applicants who hold an undergraduate degree majoring in Accounting are eligible to apply for consideration to the MSA program or

Applicants who graduate from UConn with an accounting minor are eligible to apply for consideration to the MSA program; no additional accounting pre-requisite coursework is necessary or

Applicants who have an undergraduate degree (in any discipline) who were not accounting majors will be considered for admission, but in addition to an undergraduate degree, must have completed six accounting courses to be eligible to apply:

  • Introductory Financial Accounting
  • Introductory Managerial Accounting
  • Intermediate Financial Accounting I
  • Intermediate Financial Accounting II
  • US Federal Income Tax
  • Auditing

Graduates of the certificate who are interested in earning a Master of Science in Accounting degree will be eligible to apply to the MSA. Graduates of the certificate can transfer and apply certificate courses toward the MSA degree requirements.

Application Instructions

Applications to the Masters of Science in Accounting are taken online only.  In addition to application questions, applicants must upload four short-answer essays, a current resume, and provide contact/email information for one individual (recommendation must be from a faculty or professional source) providing a recommendation, GMAT scores, and transcripts from all universities they have attended.

For preferred consideration, please apply by June 1 for the fall, November 1 for the spring, and March 1 for the summer.  Admissions decisions may be made in approximately three to five weeks from the application's completion.

International Students: This program is an online program only. According to U.S. immigration regulations, the U.S. government will not approve an F-1 or J-1 visa to come to the U.S. to study with an online program. International students are welcome to apply for admission to this program if they are currently in the U.S. on another visa status that permits foreign nationals to engage in school enrollment online while meeting their primary visa objective or if they complete the program from their home country.
